Christian Center School students, in front of CCS Tigers schoolyard mural
Pastor Yves Regaillard started Christian Center School (CCS) in 1997 as a ministry in addition to his Gospel Tabernacles. CCS is a school in Pétionville- a suburb of Port-au-Prince- and is in his neighborhood. Yves saw a need for education in his community and has been fighting for the children by trying to provide them with one ever since.
At one-time CCS had 1200 students. Because of some major problems, the school had to be moved. Then when the school was destroyed by the earthquake in 2010, the school was moved to its current location where missionaries from Japan built a new one. Recently the school closed its secondary grades and now only runs k1, k2, k3, and grades 1-6 where k1 starts at age 3. CCS currently has 150 students enrolled, with the hope of doubling the attendance next year.
Funding is an ongoing problem for CCS. In Haiti, students must pay for public education and many can't afford it. At CCS, students pay a reduced tuition, all of which goes to hire quality teachers. Yves provides the children with uniforms and school supplies. He also provides meals when funds are available. Yves’ goal is for CCS to become the biggest and best school in Pétionville, providing students not only with an excellent education, but also with basic health care through a feeding program.
